Abyss was the first and only map to introduce the mechanic of falling out of the map, and we wanted to turn that into the centerpiece of a full campaign. The spark came during a bootcamp, when two streamers tried the map for the first time and both fell. That funny incident quickly became the foundation of a rivalry that we amplified across socials, transforming it into the starting point for the campaign.
From there, we built the Abyss Showdown, a tournament that featured the two rival streamers alongside other creators, complete with a prize pool and a live broadcast. The unique design of the map shaped the format itself, with special rules that gave extra points if a captain fell, making every mistake part of the drama.
The campaign combined entertainment, competition, and community storytelling. The rivalry boosted engagement on the streamers’ channels, the broadcast showcased Abyss as a fresh experience, and the prize pool added real stakes, turning a single map feature into a memorable event for both players and viewers.
