Al Darb was a documentary-style series where we interviewed esports players and explored their stories through the voices of their families and communities. The goal was to bring fans closer to the human side of the players, showing both their challenges and their triumphs, and to build a deeper sense of fandom around them.
One of the biggest challenges was the very limited budget. To make it happen, I stepped in as director and personally traveled to each player’s home. Filming in their actual environment was essential, as we wanted viewers to feel like they were sitting with the players in their own space. The result was a series of authentic, emotional episodes that captured both sad and joyful moments, always keeping the players at the center.
The series resonated strongly with the community, achieving its goal of building stronger fandom and giving players the recognition they deserved.
